Post by: virginiabass4492 on December 27, 2015, 04:37:14 PM
I need a new bait-casting outfit but i  don't  know what type of rod i should look for in one.i never trow anything heaver that  1/2 oz. i fish  with crank baits that usualy run 5-6 feet ,1/4 oz spinnerbaits,  swimming jigs with baby craws, and   7 in annoconda's .
i got about 125.00  i was looking at  mh rods but i don't know much about that fast tip and stuff.Around here 5-8 lb is about  the biggest bass i have heard of being caught  :)

A 7' medium heavy rod will cover just about anything for sure.

For multi-application..... medium rods get too light and heavy action rods get too heavy.
A medium heavy with a fast or moderate tip can throw light to heavy and still handle big fish without any problems.

Yeah, I agree, a MH Fast is the way to go. You can expand from there, but there's a lot you can do with a 7'2" MH Fast rod. Personally, I'd pair it up with a high speed reel, and some 17lb flouro. That would work for all the applications you listed.

I agree, Med. Hvy 7 to 7'6 is a good choice  :briggin3:
