Boat Ramp Idiots.

I went out to the local lake today to fish for awhile.Managed 6 LMB, and 21 Sand bass. When I came back to the boat ramp to load up, both lanes of the ramp were blocked by trucks pulling wake boat trailers (I hate those things anyway) doors locked not a wake boat in sight, I waited for about 45 minutes and finally got p.o.ed call the local police. I explained the situation and it did not take long for an officer to show up. The first words from her mouth were, where are the fools that own these? She got pretty upset and called for two roll back wreckers, they arrived and towed trucks and trailers off of the ramps. Then realized that she would need a third to haul the trailers to the impound lot along with the trucks. They had been gone for about 5 minutes when a wake boat came up to the ramp and asked Hey did you see who took my truck. With a straight face I said nope hadnt seen anyone. And I drove to the house grinning all the way.

EXACTLY the same as you   But I would have told'em I was the one that called the cops and had'em hauled off....with a Big O smile on my face   Then I would have quickly said "Do you need anything else"

Talk about " the world revolves around me" type of people! I think you did the right thing, I would have done the same. I believe that the rule is, towed at the owners expense. That little stunt is going to cost them a pretty penny. I think it is funny that you did not tell them anything, 'cause now they gotta try and figure out where the trucks and trailers are Good job Ahamrick.

  I almost fell out of my chair laughing, I would have done the same thing.  I hate dealing with idiots like that at boat ramps.  I had one that blocked a boat ramp on me a few weeks back and kept my from pulling up to the ramp for almost an hour.  Once he pulled the boat onto the trailer he kept the ramp blocked for another 30 minutes cleaning his boat, man I got hot and let him have it.  His response was for me to stop giving him a hard time to wich I told him that he should not be blocking the ramp for more than a few minutes, if he needed more time than that he had no business launching or retrieving boats from the ramp.

Stupidity runs rampant at the ramps some times....That's when having a cell phone on hand is worth it's weight in gold...Good on you Alan!

This situation doesn't come up very often in the South. When it does it's always a
pleasure boater and especially pontoon boaters. The fishermen are usually nice and
helpful, but quite clear and firm. Ramp etiquette is easily explained and generally
received in the same friendly manner that is offered. I have never had an argument or
encountered anyone that was uncooperative. Honestly, they just don't know any better.

I suppose you get the respect you deserve. I do not at all think they were idiots though, they just lacked respect. At times I am happy my father owned a belt.

I would have told em' I hot wired the damn things and made new fish habitat/structure out of em'.  Need look no further than the end of the ramp, 20' of water.  Then I'd slowly pull my boat away and begin fishing that exact spot lol.
